Just Give Yourself a Little More Time

It was a mistake that held you back quite a bit from making progress and that dragged your self-esteem down.

That mistake was that often you just tried something like strategy or tip - once or sometimes twice and thought that would be enough to see if it worked.
Learned that this is in many cases not the case. This stuff that many others write about is not a light-switch you can just hit once and then your life is different.
No, a lot of the time it takes a whole bunch of tries to gets something to work.
Just like when you learned to ride your bike, when you play a new video game or when you try a new sport. And then you need even more of doing that thing to make it into a habit that will truly stick and become a natural part of your life.
So if you try something written here about give it and yourself a fair chance.
If you try breathing with your belly for 1 minute to calm yourself give that exercise a full dozen tries before you make a judgment if this is something for you.
If you try taking just one small step forward at a time to overcome procrastination then use it each day for a week in school or at work before you evaluate if it works for you.
Thinking, hoping and expecting that positive results will come quicker than may be possible can hold you back from making real progress.
And it may sometimes end up in you lowering your self-esteem and beating yourself up because you wonder why this doesn't work for you and start thinking that there must be something wrong with you when it works for so many other people in the world.

There's nothing wrong with you. Just give what you're trying out and yourself a bit more time.
